Gilles invites you to share his passion for the Cevennes

At the end of the road, at 600 m of altitude, on the mountainside of St Hilaire de Lavit, the restored hamlet of “Mazière”,
offers you calm, relaxation and freedom.

Based in the schist region of the Cévennes, the homeland of the chestnut, time, over here, takes its time.

Two independent and not attached quality cottages, accomodate you all the year in an intact nature, where each season will enchant you.

The small cottage Capacity : 4 / 5 Persons ; 70 m2 :

At the main floor you wil find a large dining room giving on the terrace, prolonged by the living room with a typical open fire chimney in the pure Cevennes tradition. (bed-settee)

The kitchen is equipped and functional (electric furnace, hotplates, wash crockery, washing machine, micro waves, wall cupboards…).

The house has a shower with wash-hand basin and toilet.

On the first floor there are two very clear bedrooms with arranged wall cupboards:

The first has a double bed, the second of two identical simple beds. Nicely decorated.

The terrace, marvelously well set to the sun, the schist-stone barbecue and the local tranquility, offer you a beautiful space of life for the freedom of all.

The big cottage : Capacity : 8 / 10 Persons ; 150 m2 :
	At the ground floor : a dining room, a living room and a large open fire place ensure you calm and rest. Vast wooden table for 8/10 guests, settees, armchairs, bar, all here is comfortable and cordial. A spacious luminous kitchen, perfectly equipped, will leave free course to your culinary creations for your family or friends. On each side of the house, a large terraces makes it possible to lunch outside and benefit from a unspoilt view over the Cevennes. On the first floor: Two bedrooms are arranged in an old magnanery, with each one of them: Double bed, wall cupboards, armchairs : clear spaces, good quality bed linen and nicely decorated; A third bedroom with three identical simple beds is furnished in the same spirit. Finally, you will find a charming mezzanine and its corner library, nicely furnished, with two charming old beds, delicious place for the music, reading, study or play. Two shower-rooms with toilets and wash-hand basins, arranged with taste, offer all the modern comfort to you.

Once arrived on the Spot : Gilles will be happy to speak to you about his hamlet. Gilles vous conduira sur des chemins de randonnées au pas de la porte ou vous guidera hors des sentiers battus , aux champignons, aux écrevisses, ou vers des baignades isolées selon les saisons.
Si vous choisissez de venir de l’automne au printemps, Gilles vous offrira son bois de cheminée pour de belles soirées au coin du feu et vous pourrez déguster châtaignes et grillades. Astronomie : La Mazière est l’endroit rêvé pour l’observation du ciel et de sa voie lactée : Un panorama immense préservé de toute source lumineuse, offre à l’astronome en herbe ou confirmé une parfaite étude des étoiles et des constellations. Une belle piscine tournée vers le sud dans un cadre de verdure est à la disposition des vacanciers tout l’été. A cinq minutes à pied, Philippe, et Sylvana vous proposent les produits de leur ferme : volailles, légumes du jardin, miel, terrines, foies gras, confits, sirops,,et coulis, le tout parfumé à souhait.
A quinze minutes à pied, le Gardon serpente entre les rochers : endroit authentique pour le bonheur des baigneurs et des pêcheurs.

Hiring of donkeys for unforgettable excursions with your children. At the local inn of Les Ayres, whetehr you go there by car, by bike (or foot, less 45 mn) on GR 67, Simone, Michel and Claudette will accomodate you with a rare simplicity and kindness, and will make you taste their local delicious specialities. In the old shool of Saint Hilaire de Lavit, Jean Marc, creator of jewels, a long time engaged by large Parisian jewellers, made perdurer his art in the middle of the area. He will be able to speak to you about his passion and about his affection for the birds of our valley. In Saint Privat de Vallongue, you will find tennis-courts, picturesque market, beautiful hikes.		Sportive and touristic activities : *FLORAC:* Capital of the National Park of the Cevennes, located at the confluence of Mimente and Tarnon is a small town of character which will not fail to allure you with his large esplanade bordered of plane trees, its fountains, its castle, and especially its geographical situation, starting point of many activities of leisures. ( tennis, riding school, canoe kayak, rafting, spéléo, climbing, pedestrian paths marked out, mountainbike .....) and of course the Gorges of the Tarn and Jonte to be seen and re-examine ..... *GERMAN SAINT DE CALBERTE:* In the North of the Cornice of the Cevennes, village superbly placed, surrounded by the most magic landscapes of the Cevennes. *LE PONT DE MONTVERT:* With, in extension towards the Lozere mount, one unforgettable excursion towards the sources of the Tarn; assured happiness !!! *TOWARDS GARD,* the Cevennes continue towards Alès, Nimes, *Anduze*, Uzès, the Bridge of Gard, Saint Jean du Gard, Mialet, Sauve, Vigan, Saint Hippolyte du Fort and to the sea… Aigues Mortes, Arles, the Camargue and many other places rich in landscapes and history.
